Susan Davies
Artist's Statement
After many years as a painter I was introduced to the process of bronze sculpture by sculptor,
Loretta Quinn at RMIT. I am fascinated by the alchemical nature of the medium, of casting intangible
ideas into the solidarity and enduring quality of bronze.
Inspiration
An enduring theme of my work both in sculpture and painting is the
feminine form and more centrally, the image of woman as bringer and
nurturer of life and symbol of unconditional love.
